Grand Opening Celebration Held

Staff, library board members, and the community gathered on August 27 to cut the ribbon!

“What a grand morning as the community gathered to celebrate the Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting for the Hempstead County Library. What a blessing it is for Hempstead County to have a library of this magnitude in our community! Congratulations to Courtney McNiel & her team for accomplishing what some would say the impossible…transitioning from the old library to the new & beautiful structure! The library was made possible by both a $1.4 million donation by Milton & Mary Campbell and the taxpayers of Hempstead County. The library is governed by a Board of Commissioners: Jerry Pruden (Chairman), Judy Davis (Vice Chairwoman), John Hays, Juan Rivera and Catherine Cook. Those in attendance this morning enjoyed a buffet of delicious food (provided by Amigo Juan). Flowers for the Grand Opening were provided by Hope Floral. The library gifted attendees with a choice of an umbrella or a travel mug. McDonald’s made the occasion extra-special for children. All children under the age of 12 were able to receive a free book and a free dessert coupon! Thank you, Steve & Celia Montgomery! If you have not visited the Hempstead County Library, please make plans to do so!”
